Optimizing Grain Bin Systems: A Comprehensive Guide to Conveyor Systems and Dwyer Instruments

Grain bin systems are the cornerstone of modern agricultural storage, offering a secure and efficient solution for managing harvested grain. Among the critical components of these systems, conveyor systems play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth movement of grain within the bins. In this article, we will delve into the workings of various conveyor systems used with grain bins, providing insights into their functionality. Additionally, we will explore how Dwyer Instruments’ innovative products can enhance the monitoring and control of these conveyor systems.  Continue reading “Optimizing Grain Bin Systems: A Comprehensive Guide to Conveyor Systems and Dwyer Instruments”

Environmental Sensors & Controls for Poultry Houses

Ventilation can sometimes challenge even the best poultry growers. However, it is necessary to maintain both air quality and litter (a mixture of poultry excreta, spilled feed, feathers, and material used as bedding) conditions. Dwyer offers the latest sensor and control technology to help maintain proper environments. By choosing reliable, repeatable, and sustainable solutions, it’s possible to prevent and plan for potential unwanted and detrimental factors that can affect bird health and growth. Moisture (relative humidity / RH), carbon dioxide (CO2), and carbon monoxide (CO) are three major issues most growers will face in the broiler house coming out of the winter season and daily practices throughout the grow process. Air Pressure Solutions for Seeding/Planting Machines

Since the 1950’s, the pneumatic air seeder/planter has been used as the most efficient, reliable, and cost-effective method of planting a variety of seeds. Moreover, having accurate and dependable controls are a key component to running the correct vacuum pressure for these seeding machines. Here’s how it works: using a high capacity fan, a vacuum is created in the central distribution chamber. The seeds and/or fertilizer are then pulled behind the grain drill in a separate cart. The vacuum carries the seed through tubes located under the hoppers. Seed and fertilizer are then carried in the vacuum air stream to row openers on the drill and then into the soil. Temperature and Relative Humidity in Greenhouses and Cannabis Production

There’s a saying: “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,” and this is no different with your sensors and controls of the greenhouse/indoor farming equipment that you use and rely upon everyday. Similar to any controlled environment, it is vital to monitor and proactively interpret the pressure, temperature, relative humidity, carbon dioxide (CO2) supplementation, and irrigation of your growing space. Losing control of your environment can lead to cultivation headaches ranging from poor air flow to extreme temperatures; additionally, high humidity and low irrigation rates can lead to the spread of disease and viruses.  Continue reading “Temperature and Relative Humidity in Greenhouses and Cannabis Production”

Dirty Jobs | Measuring Livestock Manure Level

Imagine that you’re driving down a country road, and you roll down your window to feel the breeze from the wind. You happen to look to your side as you pass a large barn housing dairy cows. Most of us have seen these farms, but many don’t think about what happens to the manure of the animals or how it is utilized in our everyday lives. Manure slurries and lagoons are a vital function of large scale farms for swine, dairy, and poultry.  Continue reading “Dirty Jobs | Measuring Livestock Manure Level”
