U.S. and International Threaded Connection Standards

Threaded Connections

Threaded connections are often referred to as a process connection type. For Dwyer product specifications, this connection type is typically NPT (National Pipe Thread), which is an American standard thread. These connections allow products to be installed directly into piping or with the use of threaded fittings.

For threaded connections there are two common types, (1) straight or parallel thread and (2) tapered thread. Continue reading “U.S. and International Threaded Connection Standards”

Intelligent Exhaust: Controlling Exhaust Ventilation in Parking Garages and Loading Docks

As cities around the world continue to grow, the need to fit more parking and loading dock capacity into smaller spaces is essential for new municipal and commercial building plans. For personal vehicles, many designers turn to enclosed parking garages to fit as many vehicles in as small a space as possible, or to mixed-use structures that combine a parking garage with work or living space in one building. For commercial traffic, loading dock operators are designing docks and material handling systems to service shipping vehicles as quickly as possible. Making Sense of Sensing Pressure

As discussed in previous articles and videos, pressure is the amount of force acting on a specific area and is equal to the force divided by the area. There are several types of sensing elements used inside pressure measurement devices. By understanding the components that make these products function and carefully comparing their specifications with your application requirements, you ensure the correct instrumentation is being used for your application. Today we’ll be discussing the functions of diaphragms and Bourdon tubes. Continue reading “Making Sense of Sensing Pressure”
