Dwyer Instruments offers many electrical switch products that make or break a contact based on sensing a parameter such as pressure, temperature, level, and so on.

Most switches are single pole double throw, often referred to as SPDT. This type of switch has one normally open contact and one normally closed contact.  Switches can also be double pole double throw, or DPDT, that have two normally open and two normally closed contacts.  Single pole single throw switches with just one contact are also available and are specified to be either normally open or normally closed.

The Intricacy of Proper Instrumentation in Cleaning Produced Water

The cleaning of produced water during oil and gas production and exploration is a crucial, although costly endeavor. In the process of bringing oil and gas up to the surface from a well, several byproducts are also produced. Water is the largest of these byproducts by volume, with 882 billion gallons produced per day. This produced water contains a variety of other compounds and substances, including organic and inorganic compounds, grease, bacteria, and dissolved solids such as iron. Dwyer Instruments, Inc. offers many flow measuring products including our very popular variable area flowmeters, often called rotameters. Dwyer manufactures variable area flowmeters in polycarbonate, the Series RM and LFM; in acrylic, the Series VF; and in glass, the Series VA and DR.

Visi-Float® Flowmeter Series VFCII

Variable area flowmeters have scales calibrated for specific media at specific conditions. Most commonly, the flowmeters are calibrated for air for gas use, and water for liquid use, at standard atmospheric conditions of 70 degrees Fahrenheit and 14.7 PSIA, which is 0 PSIG.  When using the flowmeter in conditions other than these standards, the flow reading will not be accurate and corrections will need to be made.
