Question: I have a new project coming up, and I am considering using the Series RHP Humidity/Temperature Transmitters. However, the instrumentation needs to be suitable for use in a hazardous area. Would the Series RHP work, or do you have a different instrument that you would recommend for this application?
Answer: The Series RHP Humidity/Temperature Transmitters are not rated for use in a hazardous area. For applications requiring humidity/temperature instrumentation suitable for use in a hazardous area, Dwyer recommends the Series HHT Hazardous Area Humidity/Temperature Transmitter. Dwyer has both intrinsically safe and explosion-proof models available, each with its own unique FM approval. An optional LCD display is also offered, for your convenience. In addition, the calibrated sensor can be replaced in the field for long term use in harsh environments.
Although the Hazardous Area Humidity/Temperature Transmitter, Series HHT, will work for most hazardous rated applications, it is always a good idea to review a product’s specifications to ensure compatibility with the application’s requirements. In this case, it is especially important to review the FM approval hazardous ratings. All of this information and more can be found on the Dwyer Series HHT webpage.
To compliment this hazardous rated humidity/temperature transmitter, Dwyer has additional hazardous rated instrumentation for sensing pressure, temperature, and level. You can view this instrumentation, as well as Dwyer’s entire product portfolio, on our website.
